What are the responsibilities and job description for the Faculty, Dental Hygiene position at Miami Dade College?
This Faculty member provides lecture for Dental Hygiene classes within the School of Health Sciences. This is a full-time Faculty (FAC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Facilitates teaching/learning in the classroom, laboratory and clinical settings
- Evaluates students and performs career and academic advising
- Plans and organizes instructional materials to meet course objectives
- Participates in curriculum development and revision that stress innovation and multicultural emphasis
- Participates in departmental recruiting and retention activities
- Serves on committees
- Prepares and submits student data to Department Chairperson
- Teaches both day, evening and weekend classes as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree in any field and Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene; and Valid State of Florida Dental Hygiene licensure; and 3 years of full-time work and/or instructional experience in field
- All educational degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions
- Ability to use technological tools in instruction, and familiarity with active, collaborative and student-centered techniques
- Preference will be given to applicants with prior teaching experience in field
- Possess excellent communication skills
- Ability to work in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
- Must be able to travel between campuses, clinical sites and off-campus offering sites
- Start date for this Faculty position is scheduled on or before start of Fall Semester 2023
- Doctoral Stipend awarded in addiiton to base pay, as applicable

- Previous teaching experience a plus
