JUNIOR/SENIOR HIGH ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
The Junior/Senior High Assistant Principal reports directly to the Junior-Senior High School Principal. . The beginning salary for this 12-month position is approximately $68,500 - $71,500, dependent upon preparation and like experience.
FSLA: EXEMPT
REPORTS TO: Junior/Senior High School Principal
EVALUATION: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of professional personnel. Evaluation conducted by the Junior/Senior High Principal
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Direct and supervise all areas of the Junior High and High School Athletic Programs including over seeing scheduling and other duties as required.
2. Assist the principal in the general administration of the school and assume the role and responsibility for the principal in his/her absence as assigned.
3. Administer school rules regarding attendance.
4. Assist in maintaining discipline throughout the student body, and deal with special cases as
necessary.
5. Assist in the implementation of District curriculum, which reflects Arizona academic standards.
6. Assist in the evaluation of classified and certificated staff.
7. Assist in the selection of school personnel.
8. Provide for the health and safety of students and staff.
9. Coordinate student funds.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
11. Assist in monitoring the plant operations of the Jr/Sr High School
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. State of Arizona administrative certification. Applicants must have on file in the Human
Resources Department a copy of the appropriate valid certificate or evidence of eligibility to be appropriately certificated by the Arizona Department of Education.
2. A minimum of three years of successful teaching experience.
3. Specific administrative experience through internship and/or previous employment.
4. Professional growth evidenced in program completion in educational administration.
5. Emphasis will be given to evidence about the applicant, which indicates:
a. Knowledge of Arizona academic standards and ability to interpret test data to improve
instruction and achievement.
b. Effective professional relationships with students, teachers, administrators, parents and the
community.
c. Educational leadership in the profession through membership and participation in the
community and in the professional organizations as well as activities with students, teachers,
community and individual projects.
d. Strong organizational ability in all aspects of educational programs.
e. Skill in effective decision-making.
f. Ability to communicate effectively with faculty and student body.
g. Forward-looking in educational views and evidence of a willingness to accept change.
h. Demonstrated competence in planning and developing educational facilities.
