Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accurate coding, and facilitating the collection of payments from insurance companies and patients. This role is crucial in maintaining the financial health of our medical practice while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
Responsibilities
- Process and submit medical billing claims to insurance companies and government payers.
- Review and verify patient information, including insurance coverage and eligibility.
- Utilize coding systems such as ICD-9 and ICD-10 to ensure accurate billing.
- Manage accounts receivable, including follow-up on unpaid claims and collections.
- Collaborate with medical staff to resolve billing discrepancies and provide necessary documentation.
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding practices, and payer requirements.
- Assist in the development of billing policies and procedures to enhance efficiency.
- Must be able to read EOB's and understand
- Knowledge of all Insurances, HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, PIP's and Workers Compensation
- Demonstrates a strong work ethic and team environment through communication, motivation, and consistency
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical billing software and systems is essential.
- Knowledge of medical coding practices, including DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding.
- Experience with medical collections processes is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Certification in medical billing or coding is an advantage but not required.
