POSITION OPEN ANNOUNCEMENT
Aspire Adult Workforce Readiness Instructor
General Description: The part-time instructor will provide instructional activities which are consistent with the objectives of the Aspire adult workforce readiness program and the MVCTC in general including but not limited to:Aspire Adult Workforce Readiness Instructor
• Conduct orientation and administer standardized assessment
• Provide classroom and individualized instruction for students to complete prescribed program to achieve career and educational goals
• Administer TABE, WorkKeys, and/or practice high school equivalency tests in compliance with state regulations
• Provide instruction in short and long term goal setting in order for student to complete the Aspire program and plan for future education, training and/or job seeking
• Instruct Basic Skills in math, science, writing, and reading
• Incorporate the use of technology into the curriculum and classroom instruction as appropriate
• Work with school counselors in preparing students to transition to post-secondary education
• Facilitate instruction in all subject areas based on individual standardized assessment results
• Act as the administrator for students using various academic software programs
• Facilitate instruction for WorkKeys
• Prepare students for employment and/or post-secondary education
• Work collaboratively to develop and strengthen student recruitment, referral, and transition processes for post-secondary and employment opportunities
Qualifications:
1. Must hold a associate’s or equivalent degree
2. Adult education teaching experience preferred
3. Must possess an interest in teaching adults
4. Possess good knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment used in Aspire
5. Ability to plan and implement lessons based on program objectives and the needs and abilities of students
6. Ability to move about the classroom/lab to check student work and monitor behavior
7. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students and peers
8. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
9. Possess excellent human relations skills and serve as a role model for students
10. Excellent customer service skills - on the phone and in person
11. Skills in operating office management technology, specifically Microsoft Office
12. Good knowledge of office procedures, practices, and equipment
13. Excellence in business English, spelling, grammar, and punctuation
14. Good working knowledge of mathematical calculations
15. Ability to exercise tact, good judgment, and initiative
16 Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written directions in a changing office environment
17. Required to maintain confidentiality in working with records
18. Demonstrate an attention to detail in assigned tasks
19. Willingness to work a part-time schedule, up to 28 hours per week
Length of Contract: Part-Time/As Needed
Salary: $29 per hour
