JOB SUMMARY
The Project Coordinator organizes, plans, and manages projects for the organizations research, development, and product implementation efforts. The level of education, expertise, experience, and professional accreditation/certifications will determine the financial amount, size, scope, complexity, and number of projects being managed along with any formal/informal supervisory responsibilities.
EXPERIENCE
This position requires the following education and experience:
- High School Diploma / GED
- Prior project management experience is preferred.
- Prior production and inventory control experience is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced mathematical and analytical skills required.
QUALIFICATIONS
The incumbent must be a well-organized and detail-oriented team player. This position requires flexibility and the ability to work efficiently and productively under time constraints in a fast-paced environment. In addition, this position holder must possess effective communication skills, both oral and in written. Strong interpersonal skills are critical to being successful in this role. Additional qualification include:
- Associates degree Required (Bachelors preferred)
- PMP Certification preferred (particularly at higher level PM roles) or ability to obtain.
- 2 years practical work experience
- Working knowledge of Waterfall and Agile project methodologies
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Project Management tools
- Strong analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to plan, problem solve, and demonstrate proactive, forward thinking in support of objective completion.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage time during times of conflicting priorities and changing business needs.
- Successfully pass a background check, including criminal history, drug screen, physical, audiogram, and vision test.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports data gathering, provides review and analysis of data, and ensures data integrity by creating detailed business analyses, which outline problems, opportunities for improvement, and solutions on various projects assigned.
- Works closely with department supervisors and managers to support day today business operations. Such as: Steel material Deliveries, expected due dates for all material, AB and HW. Identifies inconsistencies, works closely with customers to resolve issues or problems with material or missing material, and offers solutions and brings them to the attention of management.
- Coordinates with Project Management, plant managers, plant supervisors, inventory clerks, purchasing, and other plant personnel to meet specifications and deadlines of goal production (hours to produce, GF reports, Cost, prod comp dates), finishing process (galvanized product), and material delivery on or before expected due dates.
- Develops, updates, and maintains project documentation, charters work plans, and deliverables using standard project manager methodology and tools.
- Effectively and efficiently utilizes PMO Management software and supports continuous improvement efforts.
- Ensures projects are consistent with project management strategies /policies and in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
- Provides leadership, guidance, and assistance to team members as needed.
- Defines project success criteria and disseminates them to all stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
- Identifies project scope, goals, and critical success factors in consultation with key project stakeholders.
- Maintains various files and records such as master schedule and monthly goal schedule.
- Builds and grows collaborative relationships in the shared goal of project success.
- Plans, tracks, and schedules project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
- Complies with all internal project management methodologies, policies, and procedures.
- Identifies important issues before they become critical and escalates proposed solutions to appropriate leadership and stakeholders for resolution.
- Regularly promotes effective crossfunctional, team collaboration with the end goal of meeting project objectives.
- Provides solutions to issues and proactively seeks to resolve problems throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepares and delivers presentations regarding projects to varying audiences when needed and/or requested.
- Ensures a satisfactory transfer of control upon project completion.
- Conducts project postmortems and creates recommendations in order to develop best practices for ongoing execution and management.
- Performs other duties and projects, as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of averageweight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
- Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals.
- Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
