Michael Best is seeking a Security Administrator to join the team that develops, coordinates, and maintains the information security program. This person is responsible for operating existing and implementing cybersecurity solutions for the company. The Security Administrator participates in identifying security vulnerabilities, implementing solutions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and responding to security incidents. This person is comfortable both diving into technical details to solve challenges and collaborating with others. This position can be based out of our Texas (Austin) or Wisconsin (Milwaukee or Waukesha) office.
What You'll Be Doing
Strategy, Governance, & Compliance
- Develop, update, and maintain security policies and documentation.
- Create, oversee, and test security measures (e.g. MDM, MFA, and disaster recovery).
- Stay current with emerging security threats and products, services, and standards that will support development of security enhancement.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and reports.
Acquisition & Deployment
- Recommend, schedule, and implement security improvements.
- Evaluate, deploy, and manage security tools and technologies.
Operational Management
- Manage and maintain all security systems and their corresponding or associated software (i.e., firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and endpoint protection).
- Perform maturity assessments of current cybersecurity controls and apply remediations.
- Perform risk assessments for vulnerabilities that are identified and participate in the implementation of treatment options.
- Implement Zero Trust security principles to secure all systems and endpoints.
- Complete client security questionnaires and evaluate compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
- Contribute to fostering and promoting a Security Focused culture.
Job Requirements:
Knowledge Base & Education
- Bachelors’ degree is preferred; however, relevant work experience will be considered.
- Certification(s) related to cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, SSCP, CISA, CISM)
- 5 years of professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, DLP, antivirus, and encryption tools.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
- Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance requirements; including: ISO27001, SOC2, NIST, CMMC.
- Experience with Microsoft Defender XDR solutions is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to clients and team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
- A proactive, self-driven attitude with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience administering security applications and leading security projects.
- Industry-related experience in security administration or similar roles.
- Demonstrated ability to appropriately handle sensitive/confidential information with a high level of integrity and professional discretion.
- Valid authorization to work in the U.S.

Our contemporary office spaces are ideal for concentration and collaboration; supporting our culture of working together to make great things happen for our clients. This position will be assigned to either the Austin, Milwaukee, or Waukesha office. The position is 100% remote with some travel required.
