Job Description
- Assist in daily, monthly, and annual accounting activities, including financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and property-level performance returns.
- Coordinate with the controller on cash transactions like capital calls, investor distributions, and property acquisitions / sales.
- Support preparation and posting of journal entries and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Prepare monthly financial packages and respond to investor inquiries.
- Handle bank reconciliations for property, corporate, and fund accounts.
- Collaborate with the Investor Relations Manager to track investor information and ensure accurate transaction recording.
- Assist with external audits by preparing supporting documentation.
- Maintain and update accounting policy and procedures, and assist with internal control improvements.
- Help with acquisition and disposition transactions, including financial documentation and system setups.
- Identify and report potential accounting issues and contribute to process improvements.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in real estate accounting.
- Strong analytical skills and critical thinking abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; Yardi knowledge is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Solution-oriented, with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups internally and externally.
