Highly successful, global organization looking to appoint a Senior Employment Counsel ideally from CPG, logistics, manufacturing or other related business with a sizable workforce. Essential that the candidate has experience advising on wage compensation matters for a large, matrix organization with diverse HQ and field staff across multiple sites.
Job Description
As Senior Employment Counsel you will work closely with the US Board, HR and legal departments, responsibilities include :
- HR / Employment law background skilled in providing labor relations, HR compliance, and employee relations counsel to sites across the US
- Providing workers compensation and pay compliance legal advice and counsel to senior stakeholders, legal and departments as well as the wider US business, ensuring regulatory compliance, policies, best practice and providing specialist employment compensation counsel.
- Confidently provide employment compensation legal advice to varied US stakeholders, providing opinion and guidance on changes to Federal, State and local wage and hour changes, regulatory and policy matters. Proactively create / update policies, driving best practice and anticipating / identifying legal issues.
- Advising the Board and leadership team on employment, wage and hour compliance and changes to regulatory requirements.
- Working closely with HR, providing employment law advice and counsel and wage & hour guidance.
- Manage the highly skilled team of wage and hour analysts.
- Foster and develop relationships with stakeholders across the business, up to 25% travel to key sites across the US (West Coast, North East and Central America).
- Juris Doctor from a US law school
- 7 years relevant employment, wage and hour in-house experience, some of which in a leadership capacity
- Strong knowledge of California employment and wage law
- Collaborative approach
- Strong communicator, able to clearly and confidently provide legal counsel at speed and sometimes under pressure
- Build and manage relationships with multiple stakeholders including the CEO, COO, CFO and wider Board
- Competitive salary ($200,000-$230,000 base salary)
