Legal Administrative Assistant/Paralegal
Solo law firm practicing litigation in Cambridge Maryland looking for an organized and efficient administrative assistant. The assistant will be responsible for the organization and imputing of legal records and information that we work with every day. The ideal candidate must be extremely organized and able to work independently. The assistant will also be responsible for performing clerical duties such as making copies, maintaining schedules / calendars, and answering phones. The ability to deal with people is a must. Your days will vary from very quiet to very active with people in and out of the office.
The office deals with a variety of interesting and unique issues and personalities and the person in this position will be learning and handling a wide range of things.
Experience in court system or law firm or as a paralegal education strongly desired.
This position has some flexibility in hours from 20 to 40 hours per week depending on the needs of the successful candidate. We offer paid holidays and vacation time and offer tuition reimbursement if you are pursuing an undergraduate degree relevant to our work, or a paralegal certification.
Requirements
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Scheduling and organization skills a must.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be comfortable on the phone, both making calls and picking up calls.
Must be patient and understanding of the fact that people contacting our office are often in high stress situations.
Able to perform a wide range of clerical duties, maintaining files and highly confidential information.
Excellent time management skills; able to prioritize.
Able to organize and manage a variety of tasks, schedules, and information at once.
Confidentiality is crucial to the position
Qualifications
High school diploma minimum
Microsoft Office: 1 year (Preferred)
Customer Service: 1 year (Preferred)
Experience with a law firm or court system or paralegal degree is highly preferred.
REQUIRED: Must provide a cover letter, a resume that includes supervisor and salary history, and references.
Hourly rate range: $18-$30 depending on experience.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour
