Job Summary
We have a need for a team player to join our team in the Precertification Department for a very busy medical practice. The primary job responsibility is to obtain authorizations and referrals for upcoming procedures ordered by our providers. We also check benefits and eligibility. This is a very detailed job and our ideal person would have at least 1 year experience working with insurance companies. They would also need to be able to multi task and work as a team as well as individually in a busy, fast paced environment. Good communications skills is a must.. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, insurance verification, and HIPAA regulations.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform coding for various procedures using ICD-9 and other relevant coding systems.
- Verify insurance information and assist patients with managed care inquiries.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate documentation and billing processes.
- Provide support in office operations, including administrative tasks as needed.
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding practices and insurance policies.
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical office is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of insurance verification processes.
- Familiarity with coding systems such as ICD-9 is essential.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and managed care practices is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary for success in this role.
