TITLE: MAINTENANCE SKILLED – ELECTRICAL
- High School Graduate required.
- Electrical certificate or license, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Ability to interpret basic electrical operating instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Microsoft office (outlook, excel, word) skills required.
- Electrical control experience is required.
- Must exhibit leadership qualities.
- Must have a valid Michigan Driver’s License.
- Must be willing to attend training sessions and/or community college classes to improve skills,
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations, Maintenance and Transportation
SUPERVISES: Not Applicable
JOB GOAL: This position is electrical in nature and is responsible for maintaining and repairing buildings, grounds and related electrical equipment within established industry standards and district policies. Participate in preventative maintenance.
ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Electrical – Performs and/or assists in everyday maintenance and general repairs on electrical
components. These tasks may include, but are not limited to, installation of electrical fixtures,
switches, outlets and motors. Knowledge of AC and DC motors is required.
2. Mechanical – Performs and/or assists in everyday maintenance and general repairs on
mechanical components. These tasks may include, but are not limited to, diagnose problems,
make repairs and perform general maintenance on mechanical units to rooftops, variable air
volume (vav) boxes, air handlers, chillers, glycol system, unit vents, boilers, condensers,
refrigerators and freezer units. Skill set to change filters, grease fittings, clean coils, replace
belts, and restart units is required. Will be required to learn mechanical control programs
including BASS. Will be required for assisting with CSD1 and boiler inspections.
3. Plumbing – Performs and/or assists with repairs to existing plumbing equipment. Tasks may
include but are not limited to, changing plumbing fixtures including replacing sinks, faucets and
toilets. Knowledge of control valves and internal valve cartridges is required.
4. Building Maintenance – Performs and/or assists in everyday repairs/maintenance on building
components. Tasks may include, but not limited to, preparation and painting of walls, caulking,
repair of door hardware, door adjustment, vinyl floor tile repair and ceiling tile replacement.
5. Grounds Maintenance – Performs and/or assists Grounds Leader in ground maintenance as
required by accomplishing everyday tasks throughout the district.
6. Snow Removal – Performs and/or assists Snow Leader when snow removal is required in a
timely fashion throughout the district. This position requires this person to be part of the snow
and salt team for inclement weather. On call basis seasonally.
7. Must have experience in towing trailers/equipment and moving district equipment in a safe
manner.
8. Must have knowledge on how to use power tools, scaffolding and mechanical lifts, hi-lo and
front loaders.
9. Must have knowledge of small engine repair and the ability to perform some vehicle
maintenance including changing oil and preventative maintenance.
10. Performs other tasks and responsibilities as the Director of Operations, Maintenance &
Transportation may assign.
11. Follows all rules, regulations and safety procedures in accordance with the O&M personnel
handbook and O&M safety handbook.
12. Other duties as assigned
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: In accordance with negotiated contract. Regular and reliable
attendance is required.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Director of Operations, Maintenance & Transportation or his designee.
