Salary: $15.35 – $20.35 an hour per the VESPA Contract (Wait Time/Drive Time)
Position Details:
Vanderbilt Area School is looking for a dedicated Bus Driver to join our team!
Qualifications:
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with (P) Passenger, (S) School Bus and Air Brakes endorsements.
- Pass a DOT Physical, pre-hire drug test, background check and comply with the Federal DOT random drug testing program including the FMCSA Clearinghouse.
- Position requires physical stamina. Applicants should be able to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, bending, sitting or standing for long periods of time.
- If you have a CDL, but do not have the School Bus endorsement, we will provide paid training.
- Preferred certification in CPR and basic First Aid, but this training will also be provided if current certification is not held.
- Drivers will receive training specific to operating and maintaining an electric bus
Responsibilities:
- Attendance and punctuality to assignments required.
- The morning shift is two hours from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. The afternoon shift is two hours from approximately 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The After School Program is one hour from 4:50 p.m. to 5:50 p.m. Field Trips will occur as scheduled, hours will vary.
- Drivers are to have their buses lined up and ready to go ten minutes prior to the time school is to be dismissed. Drivers expected to safely accomplish duties in all varying weather and road conditions.
- Assure the safety of passengers at all times. Comply with pick up and drop off procedures, locations and times.
- Communicate with parents, students and staff effectively and professionally.
- Comply with all directives from supervisors whether written or verbal.
- Maintain discipline on the school bus as according to policy and offer due process to all students and follow through with appropriate documentation when needed.
- Maintain the bus through pre-trip inspections and safety checks, fueling the bus, maintaining fluid levels, cleaning and sweeping of the bus, and reporting any required maintenance to the transportation supervisor. Report all accidents immediately.
- Attend additional training and meetings required of the position or school as required.
- Conduct emergency evacuation drills.
- Comply with all other duties as assigned.
