The Purchasing Manager will involve sourcing plant supplies, materials, equipment, and services, as well as managing vendors. You will be responsible for performing strategic procurement activities across various spend categories, aiming to find better deals and more profitable suppliers. Your expertise in supplier relationship management and negotiation skills will be crucial in ensuring cost-effective and high-quality procurement. By leveraging your knowledge of supply chain management and your ability to identify opportunities for improvement, you will contribute to the overall success of our organization's purchasing operations.Responsibilities : Procure plant supplies, other direct materials, services, and equipment while employing the most effective cost control methods possible.Maintain accurate and complete records of all purchasing transactions in the plant Determine quantity and timing of deliveries; Expedite all open orders to ensure timely delivery of itemsReview and maintain inventory levels by reviewing usage of procured products to reduce stocked inventory levelsMaintain insurance certificates and global contract information for plant reviewDevelop, lead and execute purchasing strategiesTrack and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectivenessCraft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal termsPartner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentationForecast price and market trends; Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarkingSeek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliersMonitor and forecast upcoming levels of demandDrive continuous improvement efforts by eliminating waste, reducing operational costs, and introducing more efficient production methodsResponsible for maintaining process quality in accordance with Operations process and quality standardsLead safety, quality, and productivity programs, conducting regular workplace inspections and addressing non-compliance issues as necessaryPerform project work and distribute necessary communication to support business objectives.Maintain an awareness and comply with hazardous waste management and other environmental management requirements; Communicate with EHS or Plant Manager regarding environmental management activitiesOther duties as assignedRequirements : Minimum of 5 years' proven experience in a purchasing production role, with a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, operations, and quality systemsPrevious experience developing and implementing purchasing strategiesStrong leadership style with a demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop team members; Ability to foster a cohesive team and maintain positive employee relationsPrevious experience with sourcing and vendor managementStrong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principlesAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintain quality, control costs, and meet deadlinesExcellent analytical skills with the ability to apply statistical techniques as necessaryKnowledge of safety regulations and experience enforcing safety standards Working Conditions : This position is exposed to occupational hazards, including but not limited to, chemicals; high noise levels; physical obstacles; high, narrow and confined areas.
