OBJECTIVE
Farm and Agribusiness Underwriter Objective
To underwrite agricultural lines of insurance. To implement company philosophy and underwriting guidelines in the acceptance and rejection of risks, pricing, classification, hazard recognition, and providing service to policyholders, and Farm Bureau Insurance agents and their staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Farm and Agribusiness Underwriter Responsibilities
Evaluate, examine and/or physically survey risks submitted for coverage by Farm Bureau Insurance agents. Accept, modify or reject risks based upon all relevant information available, including guidelines, directives, inspections and claims information.
Properly classify and rate risks, verify coverage amounts and develop appropriate premium. Work with Farm Bureau Insurance agents, and in some cases insureds, to determine exposure and appropriate coverages.
Monitor exposure of individual risks by the review of pictures, inspections, claims, consumer reports, renewal surveys, audits and communications with Farm Bureau Insurance agents.
QUALIFICATIONS
Farm and Agribusiness Underwriter Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience may be considered.
Minimum six months at the Associate Underwriter position level or equivalent experience required.
Must possess a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.
Associate in Personal Insurance (API), Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU), AAIC Ag Advisor, or Farm Bureau Tech Underwriting training required, or one must be completed within 24 months of hire.
Other equivalent education or farm and agribusiness underwriting experience may be considered.
Preferred
Three to five years multi-line underwriting experience preferred.
Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) is preferred.
Note: This is a work from home position primarily covering these Michigan counties: Bay, Genesee, Huron, Midland, Saginaw, Sanilac, St. Clair, Tuscola. (Must live in Michigan)
If a candidate is not identified, an Associate Farm and Agribusiness Underwriter position may be considered based on level of experience.
