The Administrative and Accounting Associate performs various accounting functions to ensure full and accurate accounting of the organization’s financial transactions.
Responsibilities:
- Sort, batch, log, and process incoming mail, including the processing of donations
- Notify necessary Michigan Humane staff of incoming donations/restricted gifts
- Scan checks for deposit using remote deposit capture
- Prepare bank deposits
- Cash receipt entry for donations and contract agency receivable payments
- Prepare outgoing mail for USPS and internal courier
- Scan non-electronic supporting documents for the Finance team including estate documentation, investment statements, etc.
- Provide assistance and backup for the processing of invoices, cash receipts, and other accounts payable and accounts receivable duties
- Provide other support to accounting functions as needed
- Provide event support as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and accounting coursework preferred
- 1-3 years of relevant experience
- Excellent math skills; comfortable and accurate when working with figures
- Good internal and external customer service skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Strong organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Previous data entry or accounting experience preferred
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and accounting software
- May be trained to perform some of the key responsibilities of the job
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally
