What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full-Time Nanny in Forest Hills position at Michigan Nanny Solutions?
Position Overview: Michigan Nanny Solutions is delighted to share a rewarding opportunity for a warm and loving Full-Time Nanny to join a growing family in Grand Rapids. With two sweet children—a fun and active 2-year-old girl and a newborn boy arriving in April—this family is seeking a professional, caring, and experienced nanny to join their parenting team for a long-term, multi-year commitment. The weekly schedule is Tuesday through Thursday, 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, for a guaranteed 30 hours per week. The family would like their new nanny to start by Tuesday, July 8, 2025!
This role is ideal for a career nanny who is passionate about infant and toddler care, enjoys creating learning opportunities for children both inside and outside of the home, and is looking for a consistent, engaging, and relationship-centered position!
Why You’ll Love This Role:
- Play-Based, Outdoor-Focused Days: The family’s toddler loves story time at the library, park adventures, and running around outside! Baby boy isn’t here yet, but the family hopes you’ll help them instill in him their family’s love of being outdoors whenever possible. You’ll also have the freedom to plan fun, age-appropriate outings and enriching daily activities to support the children’s growth, learning, and development through play.
- Infant Care Expertise Welcomed: This is a wonderful opportunity for a nanny who specializes in caring for infants! Your knowledge, skills, and expertise are highly-sought after and will be highly-valued in this role. You’ll be a key part of the family’s exciting transition as they welcome their second child, offering gentle, attentive care in the early months and being part of every new stage of development as the baby boy grows up!
- Consistent Schedule with Flexibility for Growth: With guaranteed hours and a steady routine, this position offers reliability while also allowing you to grow your role and build a long-term relationship with a kind and communicative family.
- Supportive Family-Focused Environment: You’ll be supported not only by two kind and communicative parents, but also by nearby grandparents who love to be involved. In fact, Grandma was their first nanny, and she’s only leaving to provide that same support for another daughter’s new baby! They envision many future playdates with their children, Grandma, and the children’s new baby cousin, and hope you’re as excited for this possibility as they are! They can’t wait for you to join their family and be a part of their collaborative village!
Your Responsibilities:
- Child-Focused Care: Provide loving, attentive care to the toddler and baby, maintaining a safe and nurturing environment that supports their developmental needs.
- Engaging Activities: Plan creative and age-appropriate activities, including indoor play, outdoor adventures, library visits, and sensory play. Michigan Nanny Solutions provides access to a play-based weekly curriculum to make learning-through-playtime easy and fun!
- Infant Support: Bottle prep and sterilization, diapering, naps, and developmental tracking as baby grows. Knowledge of infant development and experience with infant sleep conditioning would be greatly appreciated!
- Light Housekeeping: Tidy the playroom and kitchen throughout the day, load and unload the dishwasher, and sanitize bottles.
- Pet-Friendly Presence: Let the family’s large & friendly dog outside during the day and spend quality downtime with their people-obsessed cat. The family hopes you’ll feel comfortable interacting with large-breed dogs and cats and feel confident in maintaining safe boundaries around the children.
Who We’re Looking For:
- Experience: You have at least three years of professional childcare experience, ideally as a nanny, with at least one year of professional experience working with infants as a nanny or in a daycare environment. Preference will be given to candidates who have a degree in Early Childhood Education, education/experience in early child development, and/or candidates who have worked as a nanny for many years.
- Skills: Confident with infants and toddlers, excellent communicator, proactive, reliable, and safety-conscious. Able to juggle the unique needs of two young children with calmness and compassion.
- Personality: Friendly, engaging, and upbeat! You love being active and silly with infants and toddlers but can also settle in for cuddles and quiet play.
- Professionalism: You are punctual, dependable, and respectful of household routines. You value open communication (and love to send parents photos and updates throughout the day!) and thrive in families that have a team-approach to caregiving.
Additional Requirements:
- At least 21 years old and legally authorized to work in the USA
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and able to transport children in your vehicle (family will provide car seats and will pay mileage reimbursement)
- Willingness to undergo a background check and drug test
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days)
- Up-to-date DTaP and flu vaccinations required; COVID vaccine preferred
Perks and Benefits:
- Competitive Pay: $23-$27/hour depending on experience and education. Paid time off, paid sick time, paid holidays, mileage reimbursement, and other standard nanny benefits are included.
- Guaranteed Hours: 30 hours per week, Tuesday through Thursday
- Relationship-Based Environment: Join a family that respects your expertise, values your input, and honors your important role in their parenting team. They hope you grow to feel as-close-as-family with their children, themselves, and even their extended family!
- Low-Hour/High-Impact Role: With three consistent days per week, enjoy full-time compensation with built-in flexibility and work/life balance
