JOB OVERVIEW
The Summer Camp Educator will display passion and enthusiasm when delivering educational STE(A)M programs to campers in grades K-8. During each week, campers will explore Mi-Sci’s 220 interactive exhibits, engage in immersive theater experiences, and investigate science phenomena through playful learning activities and hands-on experiments. The Summer Camp Educator will play an integral part in ensuring campers enjoy an exciting, engaging, safe, and educational camp experience this summer.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead daily STE(A)M activities and demonstrations with the assigned camp group
- Guide camper learning in Mi-Sci exhibit galleries
- Supervise campers during daily lunch and recess time to ensure camper safety
- Accompany campers on off-site field trips as they pertain to the camp theme
- Execute processes and procedures in daily check-in and check-out, activity prep, activity facilitation, and classroom upkeep
- Keep track of daily activities, schedules, and camper behaviors
- Communicate with campers’ families at check-in/out and by posting photos and daily updates to our online family portal
- Assist in maintaining camp materials inventory and upkeep of camp spaces
QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledgeable OR curious about physical sciences, life sciences, space sciences, engineering, and/or technology
- Comfortable and capable of working with audiences of diverse ages, gender, socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds
- Must not have legal restrictions on working with children
- Ability to bend, lift up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, and have the sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment
- Ability to learn new information (STE(A)M-based/relevant) and activities in a short amount of time and communicate to campers with accuracy
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED completion
- 1 years’ experience working with children
- Current first aid and/or CPR certification preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Extensive standing and walking, frequent kneeling, bending and twisting. Frequent use of stairs to access Mi-Sci galleries and classroom spaces. Occasional, limited exposure to the elements during recess time and field trips. Lifting packages of up to 40 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a M-F position; 40-45 hours per week; Shift time variable This is in-person, public-facing work; Must be available for all days of camp (M-F, June 23-August 15) and staff training weeks (June 9-13 & June 16- 20).
