Position Summary
The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, Michigan State University, invites applications for a renewable faculty appointment in Radiation Oncology. The position is available at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level, in our Health Programs appointment system or Tenure System, depending on the qualifications and interests of the candidate. The successful candidate will join an existing medical oncologist, dedicated medical oncology service nurses, a medical oncology service coordinator, and a radiation therapist.
The MSU Oncology Clinic is a state-of-the-art facility that provides comprehensive treatment of veterinary oncology patients and is staffed by board certified specialists. It is fully equipped with a Varian Trilogy linear accelerator and various diagnostic and treatment facilities. The oncology clinic is supported by the MSU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL), contributing to the clinical and research missions of the oncology section.
The position offers flexibility in work arrangements. Responsibilities will include management of referral cases, supervision and clinical instruction of house officers and students, and contributions to scholarly activities. Participation in pre-clinical teaching and specialty service leadership is also available. The distribution of effort across clinical service, teaching, and scholarly activities is negotiable.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have a DVM / VMD (or equivalent degree) and be board-certified or board-eligible in veterinary oncology. Eligibility for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Michigan is required.
Desired Qualifications
- MS / PhD (or equivalent degree) is preferred.
- Additional training / certification in clinical research.
- Teaching experience.
