Description

Job Title:  Test Technician III

Reports to:  Manager of Test Engineering

Department:   Test

 

 

JOB SUMMARY: (Bold is Must Have)

  • Reports directly to Test Department Manager/Supervisor
  • Education: ASEE or equivalent with 10 years of related experience
  • Perform all aspects of board level and system level of Testing and Troubleshooting
  • Proficient with Analog, Digital, Control, Memory, I/O, FPGA, CPLD, High Speed Digital, RF, and Power circuits
  • Interpret Component Data Sheets
  • Familiar with JTAG Boundary Scan, PIC programming
  • Knowledge of test equipment: Oscilloscopes, RLC Meters, DVMs, Automatic Test Equipment (ATE), Signal Generators, Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, Programmable Power Supplies, and 2D X-ray
  • Strong communication skills
  • Works with minimum or no supervision
  • Assist with training to all levels test personnel

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Bold is Must Have)

  • Performs Impedance test (ICT) and functional test to electronic assemblies according to MPI’s Test Procedures or Customer’s Test Procedures
  • Operates Automatic Test Equipment (ATE), Flying Probe, Universal Test System (UTS), Customer Designed Test Equipment
  • Performs troubleshooting to components level
  • Defines problems, collects data, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to recognize failure trends and making suggestion to improve manufacturing process when needed.
  • Ability to write correspondence
  • Performing calibration tests
  • Responsible for meeting daily production goals, functions under time pressure
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of test area
  • Proficiency with working knowledge of MPI’s Shop Floor Tracking System (Aegis) software is required
  • Component Identification and IPC-610 Inspection trainings are required
  • Individuals must pass the Component ID and IPC-A-610 Solder Inspection Training
  • Other non-test related duties may be assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Knowledge of component identification is required.
  • Proficient with Analog, Digital, Control, Memory, I/O, RF and Power circuits.
  • Familiar with JTAG, PIC, and boundary scan.
  • 5 years tech experience SMT Electronics.
  • Proficient at reading schematic and assembly drawings
  • Must be able to effectively work in team environment
  • Able to accept changes in a positive manner
  • Communicates and listens effectively in a professional and courteous manner
  • Contributes to a positive, healthy and safe work environment

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently 
  • Ability to read comprehends instructions, correspondence, and memos 
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts 
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

 

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (P.P.E.):

Specific items of clothing and/or equipment may be required to perform certain functions and operations.  Any of the following three serve as sufficient criteria in determining the need for P.P.E. compliance with:

  • MPI policy
  • Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) stipulations
  • OSHA regulations generally
