What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lithium Operator position at Microporous Products?
SCOPE & AUTHORITY
- The scope of work shall include the mixing, coating, slitting and packaging operations for the Lithium Ion line.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
- The Position reports to the PE Production Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follows written instructions including user guides, work aids, and inspection plans.
- Follows set parameters
- Completes all production and Quality control paperwork in accordance with established user guides.
- Responsible for maintaining 5-S and cleanliness consistent with clean room requirements.
- Operators are responsible for maintaining overall quality of the product at all times. Statistical techniques (SPC) will be utilized to improve our product and process.
- Operators will participate in Total Productive Maintenance, (TPM) and will be trained to perform routine maintenance tasks on their equipment as scheduled or the need arises.
- Will be responsible for mixing slurry batches following precise ingredient, sequence, mix time and quantities as outlined in procedures.
- Will be responsible for accurate recording of slurry batch information, including material, lot numbers and exact quantities used.
- Will be responsible for testing mixed coating materials according to prescribed procedures prior to release to the coating line, as well as completing all required documentation.
- Will be responsible for setup and operation of the coating line, including monitoring of raw materials in que and recording all required batch information.
- Will interface with Quality for obtaining inspection samples and responding to quality issues identified.
- Will monitor the surface condition of the coated material to ensure coverage and coating quality meet requirements.
- Will be responsible for identification and loading of base film into the machine and removing and identifying coated rolls.
- Will be responsible for setting up the slitter with the specified material and slit widths prescribed.
- Will be responsible for slitting coated separator to the proper width as prescribed and identifying the product after it is slit.
- Will be responsible for packing finished products according to procedures, ensuring only approved products are used.
- Maintains the required temperature and humidity prescribed in designated areas.

- Immediately, report any accidents and releases to the Supervisor
- Follows all safety rules and procedures.
- Wears all the required PPE for the area of work and the operation being performed, including but not limited to full clean room garments required in the clean room, face masks and rubber gloves when mixing slurry, and cut resistant gloves and arm protection when setting up the slitter.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to walk around the production floor, may stand for a period of time
- Frequent pulling and pushing
- Occasionally bending, climbing, reaching, sitting, stooping/kneeling, twisting and lifting 30-100lbs.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma. Previous manufacturing experience, coating and clean room protocols is desirable.
