What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Engineer II position at MicroTech?
Overview
The Network Engineer shall have a current Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification and will maintain network functionality by evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, good-put, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls.
The candidate will secure the network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; and maintaining documentation.
Responsibilities
The candidate shall administer the network communication devices and cabling. This includes installation; configuration and updating of Government provided network devices such as switches and routers and the installation and upgrades of network cabling. Network devices shall be configured IAW AR 25-2 and applicable
Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGS) provided by the COR.
The candidate shall: troubleshoot, and repair the peripheral equipment and network; analyze and troubleshoot peripheral devices and network connectivity and determine if problems are related to hardware, software, connectivity or combination of both; coordinate with co-workers, system developers, vendors and functional users to effect successful problem resolution; suggesting system modifications to preclude problem recurrence using various diagnostic and utility software packages to correct problems; replace faulty parts and components with replacements parts furnished by the Government.
Qualifications
- 2 years’ experience with a High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Equivalent discipline a plus.
- Security certification for Information Assurance Technical Level I (IAT-II) or higher
- Cisco CCNA certification or higher
- Must be comfortable working within a dynamic work environment
- Should have the ability to self-organize and coordinate resources as needed to complete tasks.
- Prior experience supporting DoD and/or Federal government customers a plus.
- Must possess strong verbal and written communication abilities
