Full-Time Faculty School of Behav. Sciences

POSITION SUMMARY:

Mid-America University seeks a full time faculty member with in-person and online teaching experience for undergraduate courses in the areas of Psychology. The applicant must possess a strong Christian background.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach 12 hours of courses within the School of Behavioral Science and Counseling as assigned by the Chair
• Provide quality instruction by following the department’s course syllabus, grading assignments, tracking attendance
• Submit course grades and perform other administrative duties as required
• Respond and effectively communicate with the Chair on a regular basis
• Be available to teach courses in the timeslots needed to support the goals of the University
• Perform other such duties as may be deemed appropriate
• Advising students as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must possess excellent communication, both oral and written, and organizational skills necessary to work effectively with individuals and groups
• Must be flexible in scheduling; MACU utilizes a course schedule that typically runs courses M/W/F or T/TR between 8:00 a.m. and 1:05 p.m.
• Must demonstrate effective teaching skills
• Must value teaching students and wish to contribute fully to the life and mission of the University
• Prefer teaching experience in general areas of Psychology

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

M.S. or Ph.D. in the area of Behavioral Science

COMPUTER SKILLS:

• Experience with interactive computer programs (e.g. Zoom)
• Experience with online LMS

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Operate a computer with a keyboard, pointing device, webcam, and speakers
• Stand and sit for extended periods of time
• Verbally express information or instructions
• Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds (~11 kilograms)

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

On-ground working conditions take place, so the successful candidate must have reliable transportation.
