What are the responsibilities and job description for the Faculty Position in Pharmaceutical Sciences position at University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center?
The University of Oklahoma (OU) College of Pharmacy invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Assistant Professor level. Our mission is to provide unique drug and drug development expertise in a collegial environment, to drive College of Pharmacy and OU Health research and workforce development missions and fuel clinical and translational research on campus and throughout the state.
Qualified candidates must have a PhD or equivalent degree in pharmaceutical sciences or a related discipline, significant postdoctoral training, and a history of first-author or corresponding-author publications in impactful, peer-reviewed journals. Evidence of potential for securing external funding and conducting collaborative, interdisciplinary research in areas related to neuroscience and/or drug development is strongly preferred.
Successful candidates are expected to establish and sustain an independent and competitive research program, secure external funding, publish impactful research, and contribute to teaching excellence in the professional (PharmD) and graduate programs. Strong communication skills are essential. Preference will be given to those with a strong record of extramural research funding. Current research interests within the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences target neurodegeneration, traumatic stress and brain injury, metabolic disease, cancer, infectious disease, immunomodulation, radiopharmaceutical diagnostic/therapeutic development, and peptide therapeutics. The OU College of Pharmacy is located on the University of Oklahoma Health campus near the vibrant and growing downtown area of Oklahoma City known for its cultural and sports attractions and for its low cost of living. It is one of only a few academic medical centers in the nation with seven schools of health in contiguous space (Pharmacy, Public Health, Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Allied Health, and Graduate College). University of Oklahoma Health has multiple state-of-the-art core facilities available to support faculty research endeavors. New faculty will have the opportunity to establish collaborative research initiatives with faculty across campus, including those associated with the NCI-designated Peggy and Charles Stephenson Cancer Center, the Harold Hamm Diabetes Center, Oklahoma Center for Geoscience and Healthy Brain Aging, other health-related programs on campuses in Norman and Tulsa, and Biotechnology companies in the adjacent University Research Park.
