Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for a Physician-Led Research Programs Summer Intern to join our Research department. This position is a part-time, 20 hours per week, internship, based out of our regional office located in Washington D.C. with a hybrid work model. Reporting to the Manager of Physician-Led Research Programs, the Physician-Led Research Programs Summer Intern will support research initiatives at the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Research Institute (MAPRI). You will gain hands-on experience in healthcare research within the Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic States system, with opportunities to learn about healthcare delivery, project management, strategic planning, and research operations while assisting with physician-led research and educational initiatives. This internship enables you to work on impactful projects in a professional environment, while developing critical skills in real world health system activities and operations.
As an intern, you can expect to:
- Collaborate with research scientists, physician researchers, leadership, and Community Advisory Board members to support key research programs such as the Physician Research Scholars Program, Accelerated Clinical Insights Program, and the Johns Hopkins Medicine/Kaiser Permanente Research Collaboration
- Receive comprehensive training in human subjects research and obtain CITI certification
- Participate in research study team meetings and support the implementation of study activities
- Actively track and triage physician requests for research and scholarly activities assistance
- Assist in research study outcomes collection activities with grant recipients
- Provide support with Physician-Led Program events such as Lunch and Learn webinars
What is required:
- Must be a current student enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Public Health, Biology, Healthcare Administration, or health-related field; Recent college graduates are ineligible for the internship program
- Must be able to work part-time, 20 hours per week, for a minimum of 12 weeks
- Strong interest in healthcare research, project management, and learning about the intersection of clinical care and research
- Enthusiasm for contributing to research activities and healthcare delivery improvements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a professional setting
- Must be able to commute to the Washington D.C. regional office as needed
- Candidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area
- Must provide documentation of the Covid vaccine 2-dose series (or J&J 1-dose) prior to October 1, 2023, or documentation for 1-dose of the most current Covid vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) as a condition of employment
- Must provide documentation for the influenza vaccine as a condition of employment
The starting hourly rate for this position ranges from $20.00 to $25.00, which considers an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and prior job experience, training, market data, and other relevant factors. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
