Dispatcher

Key staffing personnel who receive and greet customers and guests at the business establishment, either by phone or in person determines the nature of their business, and direct callers. Maintain daily communications with all route and activity drivers while scheduled routes are being driven for the school and communicate and scheduled trips with drivers for dispatch. Coordinates all bus movements while actively participating in the positive team environment overseen by the Location Manager. Other key job duties will include accounting calculations and timely reporting of activity trips, payroll, and hours of service; updating route narratives; equipment coordination; and additional task delegated by the location manager.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Within 6 months of being hired obtain a complete understanding of State rules and regulations governing the operation of school buses and school bus drivers. Mastered intermediate level computer proficiency in Microsoft Software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Training and certification operating a multi-line central answering phone system, and FM/VHF or other communications radios is preferred.

Position requires a valid driver's license and a Class A or B Commercial Drivers License (CDL), with passenger endorsement and air brake restriction lifted, and obtain certification to drive school bus. Under this job classification the company will provide the required training and testing to obtain this level of commercial driver's license must be obtained and test passed with the state Motor Vehicle Division within the first 6 months of the date of hire. Position must possess and sustain a Standard First Aid and CPR card within the first 6 months of being hired.

The employee is required to obtain and pass a State's school bus driver physical examination and submit to a pre-employment drug screen.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk clearly and hear phone and FM radio communications.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 lbs. in the office and have sufficient strength and agility to move in a school bus as required to aid students evacuating the bus.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
