Introduction :
Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid (MMLA) is seeking college students to work in our Minneapolis office. These positions usually require a minimum 30 hour ten week commitment but the Public Benefits Intern Position could be accomplished in a shorter time frame. Practice Groups :
- Immigration Law Project (ILP) :
ILP provides legal representation to clients in a full range of immigration contexts, including removal / deportation defense, adjustment of status, citizenship, and VAWA-based cases (U and T visas). College interns must be fluent in a second language, preferably Spanish or Somali. Job duties would include : (1) assisting with outreach opportunities, (2) interpretation and translation, (3) assisting with preparing forms for immigration filings, (4) country conditions research, and (5) assisting the Immigration Law Project in developing templates and brief banks to permit our staff to most efficiently serve our clients, among other duties appropriate to the intern’s abilities and serving the needs of ILP clients.
