What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Clerk position at MID SOUTH EXTRUSION, INC?
Reports to: Warehouse Supervisor Dept.: Supply Chain
Classification: Hourly-Non-Exempt Division: Operations
Summary / Objective:
Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepare items for shipment. Duties include managing inventory inside the warehouse. Checking shipments for correctness of quantity or any damaged product and reporting to the Warehouse Manager or appropriate department. Using a fork truck to arrange plastic rolls inside the warehouse and pick up product from the Production and Quality holding area daily.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares and processes shipping and receiving paperwork.
- Accesses and determines where stock items are to be placed in the warehouse.
- Makes sure that the products in all holding areas are moved and stored in the warehouse.
- Sets up schedules for moving, labeling, or re-packing products, as needed.
- Reports any discrepancies in product identification or quantity to the proper department.
- Loads and unloads inventory.
- Collaborating with other departments in warehouse operations.
- Must be able to use a fork truck and have some experience in working in close places.
- Participates in the monthly inventory.
PPE Requirements And Safety Rules:
- Eye protection is required everywhere in the plant.
- Hearing protection is required when crossing the blue lines that are painted on the floor, heading towards the machines.
- Safety toed shoes or boots are required everywhere in the plant.
- Cut gloves must be worn on the opposite hand to hold a knife when cutting.
- The maximum weight allowed to be lifted by one person is 80 pounds. Anything heavier requires the aid of another person, a forklift, a big joe, or roll handlers.
Core Competencies:
- Ability to accurately read and record weights from a weigh scale
- Ability to process shipping documents such as Sales Order Pick List, Packing List, and Bills of Material and relieve inventory for product shipped
- Ability to match pallet and/or roll numbers listed on Inventory Pick Lists with products in the warehouse for loading onto trucks
- Ability to physically inspect trailers prior to loading and determine if the trailers are suitable and safe for loading
- Ability to perform basic housekeeping practices in the warehouse such as sweeping floors, picking up debris, and emptying trash bins as needed
- Ability to organize customer product in the warehouse such that it can be retrieved and staged for shipment
- Ability to read, understand and apply loading schematics and strapping requirements such that loads are balanced and safe to travel
- Ability to receive and document product returns

Education And Experience:
- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate).
- No experience necessary.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 25 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, and the general hours of work are 7:00 am – 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, may be scheduled every other weekend and requires overtime.
