Job Summary:
Under the direction of the EHS Director, the EHS Manager protects the personal life and health of our team members, customers, and communities. The Electrical Safety Manager is extremely responsible, responsive, proactive, level-headed, approachable, a strong communicator, and maintains a high level of integrity. This role is responsible for keeping the health and wellbeing of our team a priority while also servicing the needs of our customers. The position is responsible for mitigating risks by identifying and addressing hazards immediately. This position is also responsible for managing training requirements for field personnel.
The Electrical Safety Manager will provide the safety support needed to help identify gaps in Electrical Safety Program. They will help implement safety controls associated with electrical work hazards, including field review/validation, process development of electrical work hazardous guidelines and in field safety observations. They will also review safety lock-out/tagout procedure verification and personal protective equipment for associated electrical work scopes to help classify/prevent hazards related to electrocution, electric shock, burns or electrical fires. Consultation will also be expected on electrical safety issues and the use of standards including but not limited to OSHA, NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 70E, and EM-385.
Key Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the EHS Director, oversee and ensure safe daily operations in the field.
- Assist Safety Director with development and implementation of safety programs.
- Inspect and assess job sites to identify hazards, risks, and potential safety issues.
- Implement effective strategies to mitigate risks as they arise in the field.
- Address all safety concerns by providing educated recommendations to ensure the safety of our team members.
- Request hazard correction from our customer’s on-site contractor personnel (as needed).
- Coach and train team members in the field on safe operations.
- Manage/conduct various training sessions (New Hire Orientation, Annual Refreshers).
- Conduct interviews to obtain information regarding on-the-job incidents and accidents.
- Complete Accident and Incident Investigation with root cause analysis and propose mitigation for future risk.
- Maintain Subject Matter Expert (SME) level knowledge of NFPA 70E, electrical safety, and act as company SME for electrical safety and NFPA 70E compliance.
- Conduct audits and reviews of electrical equipment, installations, and facilities to verify compliance with NFPA 70E, OSHA, and NEC.
- Provide immediate on-scene assistance and management in the event of an incident.
- Establish a strong working relationship with our customers’ and on-site personnel.
- Complete daily administrative duties.
- Travel to various client worksites, mostly within the Central Florida.
- Contribute to the overall success of the EHS department by performing all other duties as assigned by the Director.
- Serve as primary support to the organizations safety training initiatives including, but not limited to:
- Conduct and oversee compliance training as needed by the company and clients to include but not limited to new hire training.
- Collaborate with safety team on necessary safety training, policies, and procedures.
- Ownership over safety process understanding by employees (as directed by and in collaboration with the safety team).
- Collaborate with customer fulfillment on specific job site training based on customer needs.
- Ensure all employees are trained in every area of business (site specifics, MSHA, OSHA, job specifics etc.)
Education:
- Associate degree in health and safety, environmental science, or other relevant field; a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Safety is preferred.
- Professional EHS Certifications (CSP, ASP, CIH, OHST, CHMM, etc.) are a plus.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License, and an acceptable driving record.
Experience:
- Journeyman Electrician strongly preferred; With a minimum of 10 years electrical experience.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Expertise in local, state, and federal regulations, recordkeeping, reporting, and compliance, required. Knowledge of OSHA/MSHA regulatory requirements.
- Familiar with Industrial Construction activities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented.
- Ability to hold others accountable and coach effectively.
- Strong computer skills (Outlook, Microsoft Office, etc.)
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) level knowledge in electrical safety and NFPA 70E
- Possess a thorough understanding of Arc Flash Analysis protocols and concepts.
- Have experience in Electrical Safety and knowledge of associated safety standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E).
- High voltage and low voltage electrical safety experience required.
Work Location and Travel:
- Location is in Lakeland, Florida with regular travel to other Mid-State and client sites mostly in Central Florida.
Work Environment:
- This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary (Monday – Sunday with some overnight work).
- The working environment is oftentimes in harsh elements (hot / humid and/or cold temperatures, rain, etc.) Industrial environments often have exposure to hazardous chemicals, moving heavy equipment, and other safety-sensitive hazards / risks. Must always be alert and able to safely perform the essential duties of the job without risking harm to oneself or others.

Physical Requirements:
Talk/Hear: Must be able to communicate safety protocols, conduct training sessions, and respond to safety concerns from employees and regulatory agencies.
Stand/Sit: Will need to sit and stand to perform office tasks, attend meetings, and conduct on-site safety inspections.
Walk: Frequently required to walk to conduct site inspections, interact with employees across different areas, and attend meetings throughout the facility.
Use hands/fingers to handle or feel: Frequently use hands and fingers to handle safety equipment, review documents, and operate various office and inspection tools.
Climb: Occasionally climb to inspect elevated areas, such as machinery or storage racks, to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl: Occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch to access and inspect low or confined areas for safety hazards and compliance.
See: Must have good vision to identify safety hazards, assess compliance with regulations, and review safety documentation and reports.
Carry, weight, Lift: Occasionally lift or move objects up to 50 pounds, such as safety equipment, documentation, or personal protective gear to ensure proper safety measures are implemented and maintained.
Exposure to work: Works in various environmental conditions, including exposure to noise, chemicals, and outdoor elements during site visits.
