The manager, applications development is responsible for the suite of complex, in-house developed and vendor systems used across multiple technical platforms. The manager will manage directly and indirectly a diverse team of technology professionals including software engineers, systems and business analysts, project managers and solutions architects to deliver quality technical solutions to complex business needs in a timely manner. The manager will be directly involved in managing the second team that will support the Asset and Work Management (AWM) Information Technology functions for Berhshire Hathaway Energy (BHE) US based affiliates. The manager will work closely with the parallel manager of first AWM IT team and help coordinate workload and priorities between the two. The manager will report up through the Energy Applications IT group of the BHE Applications IT tower.

Heavily involved in the development, planning and execution of IT, business, and executive management project priorities. (10%)
Responsible for managing and solving complex and mission critical problems with creative and dependable solutions including areas outside IT applications. (10%)
Responsible for 24/7 support for tier one business critical applications. (10%)
Provides input, oversight and execution for the IT department’s strategic vision. (10%)
Accountable for achieving department performance metrics and results across multiple technical disciplines. (5%)
Responsible for developing and executing IT policy and standards for software development, security, integration and system implementation. (5%)
Responsible for developing and maintaining yearly department capital and maintenance budgets. Manage functional and financial responsibilities for major technical projects. (5%)
Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with hardware, software, consulting and employee resource vendors to ensure that the company's systems are adequately supported and external influences on the company's systems are understood and used in planning. (5%)
Performs administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department, including employee safety, selection and development of employees, pay administration, budget administration, employee counseling and motivation, organization goals and objectives and planning, organizing, integrating, measuring and reporting the work performed within the department. (5%)
Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (5%)
Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science or related technical field or equivalent work experience. (Typically four years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
Eight years’ experience in programming or systems analysis, including three years supervisory/management responsibilities.
Knowledge of IT terms, equipment, systems, functions and major vendors.
Effective oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.

Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Project management skills; the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects concurrently.
Depending on the scope of applications managed the position may require maintaining proper CIP credentialing for access to critical assets.
Availability for periodic on-call responsibilities.
