The Assistant Manager is the key component of running a successful shop. They are responsible for everything that happens within their four walls. Responsibilities are broken down into two categories: sales and operations.
Sales
- Build repair estimates based on technician’s recommendations
- Present options to the customer, overcoming objections as needed
- Price jobs correctly and limit discounting to hit gross margins goals
- Attain weekly, monthly and yearly targets
- Ensure technicians are following all inspection & safety procedures
- Keep shop payroll within company budget
- Do whatever it takes to say “yes” to every customer
Operations
- Bay management
- Sourcing required parts for repair orders
- Ensure the image of the staff, interior & exterior meet company standard
- Accounts receivable and payable
- Inventory management
- Staffing & schedule management
- Enforcing company policy and guidelines
- Managing technician training and development
