Working out of our Bath office the person in this position is responsible for planning, management, and coordination of daily program operations and supervision of WIC staff. Additionally, this person will function as local agency representative at state WIC meetings and point of contact with the state of Maine’s WIC Program Office. The manager is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, supervising and evaluating WIC program staff; and coordinating daily WIC clinic operations (staff scheduling, monitoring of service delivery and staff standards of care, and quality assurance service evaluation). Other responsibilities will include:

· Assists with development of program procedures, budgets, work plans and Special Initiative Proposals; responds to other proposals for services

· Prepares and submits reports to state agency; assists with contract audits, Management Evaluation Review (MER) process, and responding to requests for proposals not limited to Women, Infants, and Children Nutrition Program.

· Ensures that staff complete ongoing in-service training and continuing education, including regular review of WIC nutrition program training modules, and maintains all staff training and CEU records.

· Determines eligibility of prospective clients for WIC services and nutritional risk priority; conducts assessments of client diets and nutrition educational needs.

· Provides instruction and guidance on nutrition and good health, with special emphasis on nutritional needs of pregnant, post-partum, and breastfeeding women, infants and children under five years of age.

· Maintains and promotes a friendly breastfeeding environment.

Qualifications:

· Baccalaureate Degree in Nutritional or Health related field from an accredited college or university required. Registered Dietitian preferred.

· At least 3 years' experience in a related position; 5 years preferred.

· Experience in a management position involving hiring, training, supervision, and staff evaluation responsibilities.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with clients, customers, and members of diverse professional and community groups.

· Experience coordinating activities or initiatives within an organization and between community agencies; serving as a liaison between entities.

· Administrative and grant management experience preferred.

· Ability to organize, manage, and monitor office procedures and workflow.

· Demonstrated proficiency with computers and related software including word processing and spreadsheet applications. Experience with database applications required.

Other Requirements:

· Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, adequate automobile insurance per state standards, and access to reliable transportation; compliance with MMCA policies pertaining to safe vehicle operation required.

· Prior to starting employment, must be able to pass fingerprinted criminal background, child protective services, sex offender registry, and motor vehicle record checks, as required by state and federal childcare licensing regulations, that indicate no previous record of involvement with child abuse or exploitation and no disqualifying criminal or motor vehicle record that would preclude working with children.

·This position is full-time (40 hours per week) and benefits eligible.
