Job Summary
This is a professional, full time, live-in position in the Office of Housing and Residence Life. Primary responsibility is for the provision of residence life programming that enhances the personal development of students, including a focus on personal responsibility, leadership skills, diversity awareness and civic responsibility with an emphasis on student learning outcomes. This position is responsible for coordinating residence life operations for two or more assigned residence halls and for enforcing residence life policies and procedures. This position is also responsible for assisting the Office of Housing and Residence Life with activities related to Open House and Orientation throughout the year, as well as assisting the Assistant Director of Residence Life with departmental programming initiatives.
Responsibilities
Area Operations (50%) -
Supervision of two or more residential communities.
Develops an on-call schedule for each staff member to ensure continuous supervision of residence life activities.
Maintains accurate key records.
Conducts student check-ins and check-outs at the beginning and end of each semester.
Maintains residence hall and student records.
Resolve minor discipline issues and completes related documentation. May assist with higher level conduct cases as needed.
Monitors maintenance log sheet.
Processes and manages residence life applications and waitlists
Assists students in the room selection process.
Consolidate student room assignments and reports room changes.
Inspects residence hall daily to identify and resolve maintenance and student conduct issues.
Advise and Support (30%) -
Supervise the work of RAs (Resident Assistants) and CAs (Community Assistants); conducts staff meetings; communicates with staff to exchange ideas, solve problems, and discuss ideas.
Assists the Assistant Director of Residence Life with Departmental programming initiatives, including delivering programming supplies as needed.
Assists the Assistant Director of Residence Life with implementation and management of living learning communities and themed communities.
Maintain programming supply closet and manage reorder of necessary supplies.
Supervises social and educational programs.
Completes staff evaluations.
Answers telephones and greets visitors, including students and parents; provides information and assistance via phone and email; refers to appropriate personnel.
Train Staff (10%) -
Recruits, selects and trains Resident Assistants (RAs) and Community Assistants (CAs).
Educates residents of college rules and regulations and the consequences of infractions.
Complete educational sessions during RA Training for Fall and Spring
Assists the Assistant Director of Residence Life in training RLC, CA, and RA staff.
Maintains Positive Relationships with the Community and Other Departments (10%) -
Assists Office of Housing and Residence Life with Orientation and Open House presentations as needed, coordinates campus tours, and maintains showrooms.
Welcome and acclimate new students and their families to the campus during Orientation programs, which will include residential tours.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a bachelor¿s degree in course of study related to the occupational field.
Required Experience
Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand all objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to required three years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge of residence life policies and procedures.
Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
Skill in the delegation of responsibility and authority.
Skill in the operation of computer and job related software programs.
Skill in decision making and problem solving.
