Director of Safeguarding
The Director of Safeguarding is responsible for ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of all youth, volunteers, and staff involved in the Middle Tennessee Council (MTC) Scouting programs and activities. This role provides leadership, education, and risk management oversight to uphold the highest standards of health, safety, and emergency preparedness across all council events, camps, and Scouting operations.
Starting Pay and Benefits
Executives start at $51,000. This includes base salary plus a monthly compensation for vehicle and business phone usage. Other benefits include major medical and prescription coverage, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, accidental death, plus additional monthly compensation for business mileage. We also offer vacation policy and ten holiday observances per year. An annual increase in salary is determined by an individual’s overall performance
Qualifications
· Must be at least 21 years of age
· Willing to relocate to Middle Tennessee
· Must be willing to register as a member of Scouting America (SA). This includes a criminal background check.
· Background in occupational health and safety, risk management, emergency response, or a related field preferred.
· Experience in youth protection, safety training, and emergency preparedness is highly desirable.
· Strong understanding of SA health and safety policies or a willingness to learn and apply them.
· Certification in CPR, First Aid, Youth Mental Health First Aid, and AED training required (or willingness to obtain).
· Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- United States citizenship or declared intention to become a U.S. citizen
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- People-oriented, having the ability to work well with adult volunteers, community and business leaders, and representatives of other organizations
- Able to work varied hours when necessary to achieve positive objectives
- Believe in Scouting America and be willing to subscribe to its principles and standards
