DEPARTMENT: Workforce Development Lifelong Learning
REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Lifelong Learning, Camp Director
The position instructs campers in art, music, and elementary education in a weekly, fast-paced summer camp program for children ages 5-13.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instructs and plans curriculum; supervises and manages daily camp classroom activities.
- Motivates children to participate in age-appropriate activities.
- Ensures campers follow policies and procedures.
- Communicates with Camp Director regularly and creates a safe environment and fun experience for campers.
- Communicates with parents and camp staff in a professional manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- NJ Teaching Certification (academic subjects only)
- Experience working with and supervising children
- Knowledge in instructing topics such as art (clay, tie dye), English Language Arts, science, music/voice, and K-6 instruction
- Ability to communicate and work with a variety of age and skill levels
- Friendly and caring personality along with the energy and stamina needed to work with kids
- Reliable and responsible individual with ability to report to work on time Comfortable communicating with parents and staff
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience caring for and supervising children in a group of 15 or more
- Public or private school teacher with one (1) or two (2) years of teaching experience or more
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to make independent decisions
- Strong proactive problem-solving skills and classroom management skills
- Capacity to handle diverse responsibilities and multi-task
- Ability to deal positively with a diverse population
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
Staff will be fingerprinted and a background check is required
SCHEDULE:
June 23, 2025 to August 15, 2025 (No camp on July 4)
Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (30 min unpaid lunch)
Some shifts may be 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m., 12:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m., or 1:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m.
Salary : $25
