Description
The Public Relations Specialist is a dynamic role that encompasses all aspects of public relations to support the District's communication needs. This includes managing and executing video and print production, branding, crisis communication, website management, social media, and community engagement. Working closely with the Director of Information and Public Relations and the District's other Public Relations Specialist, this position ensures consistent messaging and enhances the District's public presence across all platforms. The Specialist plays a key role in creating impactful content, building community relationships, and advancing the District's strategic communication goals.
The Public Relations Specialist must be proficient in all aspects of public relations, including but not limited to :
- Overseeing the production of internal and external print materials such as brochures, magazines, newsletters, and promotional content, including the Back to School Guide and the monthly staff newsletter.
- Developing and maintaining detailed production schedules to meet deadlines and distribution needs.
- Aligning print publication projects with marketing campaigns to ensure brand consistency.
- Managing and updating Risevision graphics for the District Services Center and supporting schools as needed.
- Conceptualizing, planning, filming, and producing multimedia content such as videos, podcasts, webinars, and digital media aligned with District goals and branding.
- Managing all aspects of video production, including location setup, lighting, equipment, directing on-screen talent, and maintaining schedules.
- Developing and coordinating the monthly athletics podcast in partnership with the athletics team, producing social media graphics, and ensuring content is uploaded to Spotify and the District website by the last Friday of each month.
- Assisting the communications team in disseminating alerts, notifications, and detailed emails during crisis situations to staff, parents, and the community.
- Managing and updating the District website (Apptegy) with current content, branding, and information.
- Training staff on website usage and providing professional development as needed.
- Auditing the website regularly to ensure accurate and updated information.
- Writing and distributing press releases to highlight District achievements, news, and events.
- Building and maintaining relationships with local media representatives to increase coverage of District initiatives.
- Creating, writing, and curating engaging content for District social media platforms to boost community engagement and awareness.
- Collaborating with the communications team to develop and execute social media campaigns that align with District goals and branding.
- Assisting with planning District events, such as the 'Years of Service celebration and the Retirement Recognition dinner.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Information and Public Relations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Successful candidates must exhibit strong expertise and practical abilities in various creative and production software platforms, including proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Canva, and other digital editing applications. Experience with video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro.
