Process Engineer - Position and Responsibilities

As a Process Engineer with Middough, you will collect and prepare data / information and perform detailed engineering calculations. The Process Engineer will also perform engineering design and analysis on complex or unique problems and will coach / develop less experienced engineers, designers, and drafters. The Process Engineer will demonstrate technical / professional growth annually by maintaining active membership in professional organizations and participating in technical seminars / courses.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :

Collect and prepare data / information, perform detailed engineering calculations, and write formal engineering / technical reports.
Develop technical specifications and data sheets, perform technical evaluation of bids, and recommend best value design which meets client requirements for operability, reliability, maintainability, and safety.
Provide field leadership work by checking installations and problem-solving activities.
Perform calculation checking and vendor drawing reviews.
Serve as a Project Lead for more complex projects by estimating work hours, developing scope of work, making staffing recommendations, and checking project deliverables prior to issuance.
Interact with other departments and suppliers to obtain pertinent information.

Education, Experience and Skills

The successful candidate will possess the following :

Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering required.

EIT / FE preferred with intent for PE license with further industry experience.

2-5 years of experience performing basic engineering analysis and design functions.

Preferred experience in any of chemicals, refining, agribusiness, food, pharma / bio, oil and gas, industrial gases and cryogenic facilities, coatings manufacturing, battery chemical components, precious metals refining, and plastics industries.

Experience in pressure relief analysis and flare system design and documentation preferred.

Process flow drawing (PFD) and P&ID development experience preferred.

Working knowledge of iPRSM management system is desired.

Experience in the design of process equipment (vessels, pumps, exchangers, fired heaters, compressors) specifications.

Ability to perform heat exchanger design calculation.

Working knowledge of API 520 / 521 and ASME codes.

Experience with process steady state modeling (HYSYS, AspenPlus, etc.).

experience with hydraulic modeling (AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow, etc.) preferred.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail abilities.

Excellent multitasking and organizational abilities for project efficiency.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Noise levels may be moderate to high at various client sites, hearing protection may be required and / or provided. Safety protections to be provided by the client and / or company and are required to be used and followed.

May require occasional car or air travel to other company locations or client sites.

This position requires the candidate / employee to possess and maintain a valid driver's license in their state of residence.
