Background Midland ISD (MISD) has been working to improve support to campuses and students related to Dropout Prevention, as well as, Mental and Behavioral Initiatives.

Position Function/Purpose The primary responsibility of the Social Support Workers is to support the Executive Director of Student Services and the Student Services Department by supporting Truancy, Dropout Prevention, as well as, Mental and Behavioral initiatives. Key skills for this position include a proven track record of exceeding goals and a bottom-line orientation; evidence of the ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment; problem-solving, work-stream management, and creative resourcefulness. candidates must be able to work independently, meet deadlines, have the ability to multitask, be resourceful, creative, and function as an effective team member.

Major Responsibilities 1. Coordinate community resources for identified students to promote attendance and graduation. 2. Provide support and intervention as needed related but not limited to truancy, dropout prevention, or behavior. 3. Maintain records of students served. 4. Communicate with the school principal or designee on a regular basis. 5. Work effectively with multiple groups of stakeholders and internal clients to deliver high quality products on an ongoing basis. 6. Self-motivate and demonstrate the capacity to prioritize, ensuring time is spent on highest leverage actions. 7. Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis to generate meaningful insights and to problem solve. 8. Communicate efficiently: break down large and complex analyses into actionable recommendations while reserving the ability to drill deeper as needed. 10. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Student Services. 11. Proficient in advanced features in Excel, Powerpoint and Google suite. 12. Outstanding written and oral communication and facilitation skills.

Qualifications The candidate should demonstrate a passion for breaking new ground and improving life outcomes for all kids while focusing on resources that will prevent dropout, behavioral limitations, or truancy. The candidate should have proven experience managing people and multiple work streams. The successful candidate will most likely have had experience in an educational setting and a minimum of 2-3 years of demonstrated operating experience and leadership. The requirements for this position are:
Education: Undergraduate degree required; advanced degree highly desired. Strategic Vision and Agility: Ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into a work plan. Leadership and Organization: Capacity for managing and leading people; ability to connect with people both on an individual level and in large groups; capacity to enforce accountability, develop and empower top-notch leaders from the bottom up, cultivate entrepreneurship and learn the strengths and weaknesses of the team so as to put people in a position to succeed. Action Oriented: Enjoys working hard and looks for challenges; able to act and react as necessary, even if limited information is available; not afraid to take charge of a situation; can overcome resistance to leadership and take unpopular stands when necessary. Strong Interpersonal Skills: Sense of humor, and ability to work in a dynamic environment a significant plus.
