What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant/Associate Professor of Secondary Education position at Midland University?
Midland University is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor of Education with an emphasis in Secondary Education. This position requires in person instruction in the Walker School of Education located on the Fremont, Nebraska, campus. This position also includes the opportunity to work at the graduate level. The Walker School of Education provides a Teacher Education Program fully approved by the Nebraska Department of Education. This position will begin August, 2025. The position will remain open until filled.
Description of Key Responsibilities:
- Instruct and develop courses that provide foundation and methods with a focus on Secondary Education.
- Supervise students during field-based experiences and/or clinical experience.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement for curriculum, instruction and assessment that aligns with state standards.
- Mentor adjunct faculty and students.
- Communicate and collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration.
- Serve as the Secondary Education Coordinator:
- Responsible for data collection regarding program goals and for state reporting and program review.
- Communicate with faculty and staff in all departments that provide content instruction for secondary students.
- Work with student recruiting, retention, and graduation.
- Implement and support innovative teaching using high impact practices.
Candidate Qualifications:
- A Master's Degree in Education is required, along with an active or past secondary teaching endorsement. A Ph.D or Ed.D. in education is preferred.
- Demonstration of excellence in teaching in a secondary setting is required; post-secondary teaching and development of curriculum experience is preferred.
- A minimum of five years K-12 teaching experience is required.
