What are the responsibilities and job description for the Graduate Assistant - Men's Wrestling position at Midland University?
Midland University, a private, faith-based, liberal arts university in Fremont, Nebraska (just outside of metro Omaha), is seeking a Men's Wrestling Graduate Assistant. This position will be offered within our graduate assistant structure, requiring admission to the University's Master of Education, Master of Science Learning and Talent Development, Master of Science and Sport Administration and Leadership, or Master of Business Administration programs. In addition to the academic responsibilities, the candidate will be responsible for contributing to various aspects of the Men's program, including assistant coaching, recruiting, practice preparation, and other duties assigned by the Head Coach. The person who holds this position will receive tuition remission from the University and potentially receive a campus meal plan, free campus housing, and a monthly stipend.
Job responsibilities include:
- Recruiting and retaining students for the Men's Wrestling program
- Practice planning and preparation
- Coaching and instruction activities during training and practice
- Assisting with team travel and game-day operations
- Assist in preparing scouting reports for future opponents
- Player development and management
- Monitor the academic progress of the student-athletes
- Responsible for administering NAIA and Midland University policies pertaining to recruitment and student-athlete eligibility
- Continuously ensuring personal behavior and program reputation are in alignment with Midland University's mission and core values
- Other duties as assigned
Need to have:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Must meet eligibility for the Midland University Graduate Program
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to maintain team discipline and instill proper ethical and moral standards
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic coaching/team principles
- Ability to effectively coordinate recruiting activities
Strong preference for those with:
- Wrestling experience at the collegiate level
- Previous coaching experience (College, High School or Club)
Required skills and traits:
- Experience uploading, editing, and analyzing game film
- Great interpersonal skills
- Operate team social media accounts
Compensation:
- Tuition Remission in the master's program. Level of remission is dependent on degree pursued
- Free campus meal plan (15 meals per week) dependent on degree pursued
