Summary : This position offers an opportunity to provide advanced emergency medical care to individuals who are sick and / or injured, utilizing the skills and qualifications licensed by the State of Michigan. The goal is to enhance patient outcomes through timely and effective interventions.
Key Responsibilities :
50%) Independently develop and initiate plans of care for medical and traumatic emergencies. Responsibilities include performing invasive procedures such as pleural decompression, cricothyrotomy, endotracheal intubation, intravenous access, and more. Additionally, manage non-invasive monitoring techniques like vital sign interpretation and cardiac rhythm analysis.
25%) Assess patients during inter-hospital transfers, taking charge of patient evaluation and care while utilizing various medical equipment to maintain optimal care standards.
25%) Supervise the field management of ancillary rescue personnel, providing guidance and support to various emergency response team members, including law enforcement and fire department personnel.
Additional Duties :
Draft detailed reports documenting patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
Promote public awareness and education programs to enhance perceptions of EMS services and the medical center.
Evaluate the safety and readiness of emergency equipment and vehicles, ensuring all equipment meets state requirements.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of EMS vehicles and facilities.
Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Windows as part of a technology-driven workplace.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Certifications and Licensure :
Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required within 1 month of hire
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Required within 1 month of hire
Paramedic License – Knowledge of emergency medicine through 2 years of education and licensing
DMV Record Check
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – Required within 1 month of hire
Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) – Must be obtained within 1 year of hire
Techniques for Effective Aggression Management – Required within 6 months of hire
Required Education :
High School Diploma
Completion of 2 years of emergency education culminating in Paramedic licensure
Experience, Training, and Skills :
Background in pre-hospital care through 2 years in a healthcare setting.
Ability to function autonomously while performing comprehensive patient assessments.
Excellent driving skills for emergency vehicles and strong interpersonal communication capabilities.
Physical and Mental Requirements :
Ability to perform under stress, with exposure to trauma and distressing situations.
Physical capability to lift and carry heavy objects, as required.
Must follow safety protocols relevant to bloodborne pathogens.
