Job Title: Support Services Technician I
Reports to: Coordinator for Support Services

Primary Purpose:


Provide excellent customer service and technical support to staff and students in a timely, thorough, and professional manner. Support is provided for computers, mobile devices, software, and other technology equipment as needed.


Qualifications:


Education/Certification:
Associate degree or higher in a computer related field is preferred.
Technical certifications preferred (CompTIA A , NET , SEC , MCITP, MCSE, ACSP)
Completed manufacturer’s (e.g., Dell) training program in computer repair preferred
Valid Texas Driver’s License is required


Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of computers, printers and cabling
Knowledge of computer operating systems
Knowledge in the use of basic electronic test equipment and tools
Knowledge of mobile computing platforms
Knowledge of AV equipment and software
Ability to lift 50 pounds without restriction
Ability to work with appropriate vendors to obtain components/parts
Ability to use database and /or spreadsheet software to maintain information
Ability to access the District inventory and determine the need for repair components
Ability to provide customer service and department public relations to any situation
Ability to crossover with other jobs as needed
Ability to work with other departments on emergency situations


Experience:
Minimum 1 year of experience as a technology support technician required.


Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Provide on-site and remote troubleshooting and repair of computers, mobile devices, printers and other technology equipment.
2. Relocate computer hardware, peripherals, and equipment as needed.
3. Repair hardware as necessary and work closely with service vendors to ensure continuity of service.
4. Complete software and hardware upgrades, deployments and reimaging.

5. Ensure customer technology issues are promptly addressed, documented and resolved using the MISD ticketing system.
6. Maintain professionalism consistent with the highest customer service standards.
7. Maintain, repair and/or report issues that affect technology within the district.
8. Attend technology support meetings and trainings.
9. Work with all District employees to meet technology support needs.
10. Communicate technical issues, deadlines, outages and resolutions effectively with campus staff.
11. Consistently correspond with other members of the Technology Department to ensure all team members are aware of crucial issues and processes.
12. Make recommendations and assist in the establishment, documentation, and implementation of district wide technology standards, processes, and procedures in accordance with industry
best practices.
13. Populate the support knowledge base with current trends and topics.
14. Operate a school vehicle in a safe manner.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Tools/Equipment Used:
Computers/keyboards, hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs/cable installations. Occasional use of ladders and lifts.
Posture: Sits, stands, walks, kneels, crouches, squats, and bends on a daily basis.
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds and frequently up to 25 pounds without difficulty
Environment: Exposed to electrical hazards on a daily basis. Location of the job is in the classrooms, labs, district offices, and vehicle.
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
