OBJECTIVE / ACCOUNTABILITY
The Shipping Assistant ensures the efficient processing and delivery of orders, focusing on customer service, paperwork accuracy, and driver support. This role plays a vital part in maintaining smooth shipping operations and customer satisfaction, while also assisting drivers in their delivery tasks and ensuring all shipping documentation is accurate and complete.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Service:
- Serve as a main point of contact for customers regarding shipment inquiries.
- Provide timely updates to customers about the status of their shipments.
- Resolve shipping-related issues promptly and professionally.

Paperwork Assembly:
- Accurately prepare and organize shipping documentation.
- Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and error-free.

Teamwork:
- Collaborate effectively with the logistics, sales and inventory teams to ensure smooth shipping operations.
- Assist team members with any shipping-related tasks or needs.

Organization:
- Maintain an organized and efficient shipping area, ensuring supplies and materials are readily available.
- Ensure that delivery paperwork is turned in on time for invoicing.

Shipment Tracking:
- Monitor shipment status and provide timely updates to both customers and internal teams.
- Address any delays, discrepancies, or issues with shipments.
- Track returns and manage updates on those orders.

Returns Management:
- Assist with the processing of customer returns.
- Ensure proper documentation is completed for returned items.
- Work with the drivers, inventory and sales teams to facilitate smooth returns handling.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to handle customer inquiries and resolve issues effectively.
- Familiarity with shipping procedures, paperwork, and documentation.
- Ability to collaborate with drivers, warehouse teams, and other departments to ensure seamless operations.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written), with attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of shipping software and office equipment.
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCES
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in customer service, shipping, or logistics is a plus.
- Experience assisting drivers or working in a team environment is preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficient in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite or similar).
- Detail-oriented with a focus on ensuring accuracy in documentation.
- Effective communication skills for dealing with customers and team members.
- Ability to handle fast-paced work environments while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
