Summary of Position:
The HR Coordinator/Recruiter plays a key role in supporting business operations by serving as a strategic partner to our 27 locations across the U.S. This position is responsible for the full recruiting life cycle – from marketing job openings to onboarding candidates – with a focus on sourcing high-quality applicants across various industries and experience levels. This role also supports key HR functions such as onboarding, compliance, timekeeping, and compensation benchmarking.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Source, screen and recruit candidates for a wide range of roles including skilled trades, general labor, administrative, and technical positions across the U.S.
- Manage full-cycle onboarding including background checks, drug screenings, motor vehicle reports, and I-9 audits
- Create and refine job descriptions to attract top talent while ensuring compliance and industry alignment
- Lead driver recruitment and compliance efforts for freight department, including DOT/FMCSR adherence
- Provide HR support and guidance to managers and teams across various locations
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive employee and applicant information
- Participate in continuing education to stay informed on best practices and employment law changes
- Support special HR projects and department initiatives as needed
- Display adaptability to shifting priorities and deadlines, collaborating cross-functionally with multiple departments
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time-management abilities
- Proven ability to manage multiple job openings and meet deadlines
- Compassionate and patient customer service skills
- Comfortable typing 50 WPM
- Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and HR/recruiting software such as Paycom, Tenstreet, and FMCSA portals
- Positive, energetic, and collaborative attitude
- Reliable and dependable
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based: 90% sitting, 10% standing/walking
- Regularly required to talk and listen; sit; stand; walk
- Regular use of phone, computer, and other office equipment
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- 3 years of recruiting experience (required – agency preferred)
- Experience with multi-state hiring practices and employment law (preferred)
- Experience with DOT regulations and FMCSR compliance, particularly related to driver recruitment and onboarding (highly preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or 4 prior years’ experience in a Human Resources Department (preferred)
