What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant position at Midwest Innovation Laboratory?
- Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures for blood specimen collection in a mobile setting.
- Ensure proper identification of patients and specimens according to established protocols.
- Maintain aseptic technique throughout the specimen collection process to prevent contamination.
- Process specimens according to laboratory procedures, ensuring accurate labeling and handling.
- Document all procedures performed and maintain accurate records of patient interactions.
- Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures and addressing any concerns they may have.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure timely delivery of specimens to the laboratory.
- Stay updated on medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and clinical laboratory practices.
Experience
- Previous experience in a clinical laboratory or hospital setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and aseptic technique is essential.
- Knowledge of vital signs, specimen collection processing, and laboratory procedures is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to phlebotomy and laboratory practices is beneficial.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently in various environments.
