Ready to join in? Nationally ranked sports medicine physician and osteopathic practitioner with a comprehensive focus on treating athletes across various levels is seeking a new Medical Secretary. The ideal candidate will exhibit high standards, excellent communication skills, exceptional time-management capabilities, and have an ability to take initiative. Candidate's primary purpose is to serve as a key point of contact between patients and physician. The position will primarily be based at the Orthopedic Building in Chicago, IL near the Illinois Medical District. Candidate will need to have flexibility to travel to the outpatient clinic located in Westchester, IL during the first months for training purposes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Functions as a liaison between patients, physician practices, internal departments, hospitals and other organizations.
- Close collaboration with the physician and staff.
- Prepares the charts for clinic day.
- Completes correspondence including faxing, mailing, work comp reports, draft letters, and maintenance of medical appointment schedules for the practice.
- Responsible for assisting to organize meeting for assigned physician.
- Represents physicians by screening incoming telephone calls; recording and transmitting messages; salespeople and/or visitors. Screen potential patients and visitors; arranging referrals to other health care providers; scheduling appointments for consultations, x-rays, lab tests, physical therapy, MRI's, CT scans, etc.
- Organize and maintain the practice and academic calendars.
- Answers all incoming inquiries from patients, providers, staff and others related to all aspects of practice operations.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), required.
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree, preferred.
- Healthcare experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, customer service and communication skills within the team and to patients
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, emphasis on word, excel, and outlook.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment including problem solving, decision making, strategic thinking, planning, and communication.
- Superior organizational skills.
- Be keenly detail-oriented.

Pay Range: $20- $25 per hour. Compensation at MOR is determined by many factors, which may include but are not limited to, job-related skills and level of experience, education, certifications, geographic location, market data and internal equity.
