TRUST SPECIALIST I
JOB DESCRIPTION
This position reports to the Director of Trust Services of Midwest Special Needs Trust, a nonprofit organization serving people with disabilities. The Trust Specialist is a professional position working in a team environment to open special needs trusts for individuals with disabilities in Missouri and the contiguous states and continue to administer them. General responsibilities include trust administration of individual trust sub-accounts that include opening, processing deposits and allowable distributions and reviewing new and closing trust sub-accounts. This position will be answering in-coming and making follow-up phone calls. Marketing duties are shared by MSNT’s professional staff and include promotional activities designed to market MSNT’s services to target audiences and staffing exhibits at professional meetings and conferences. The Executive Director may require other focused duties including but not limited to quality assurance, improved customer service and the proper execution of fiduciary responsibilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Pre-Consultation
- Prepare and maintain new trust sub-account packets for mailing
Opening
- Process enrollment fee request for funds
- Enter enrollment fee transaction into platform, as applicable
Deposits
- Process deposits for trust sub-accounts
- Enter deposit notifications into platform
- Save documentation to trust sub-account electronic file
- Mail receipt of deposit to the responsible party
Distributions
- Enter distribution information into platform
- Save information to trust sub-account electronic file
Provide Trustee Services
- Mail, as requested, trust related items to responsible parties, including but not limited to: Public Benefit reviews, copies of account statements, trust documents, tax related information and correspondence
- Perform Public Benefit reviews
- Update and maintain accurate trust sub-account records in both platform and electronic file using the prescribed filing format
- Enter data, including Account Activity Notes, into the platform using the data entry standards
- Update and maintain accurate trust sub-account paper records using the prescribed filing format
- Daily pick up of mail from the Post Office and distribution to staff
- Participate in assigned MSNT meetings, trainings and quality improvement activities
Assist the Director of Trust Services
- Trust sub-account reviews
- Data projects
- Retention Policy
- Reference Guides development and distribution
Participate, as assigned, in marketing/promotional activities
- Represent MSNT at conferences, promotional events and presentations
- Set-up and staff exhibit at conferences and other promotional events
- Gather and prepare staff exhibit materials and promotional items as needed
- Communicate inventory needs
Other Duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university
