High School Teacher / STEM Educator

Position Description

Milestone C seeks an enthusiastic, energetic, and technology-savvy teaching professional with strong subject area knowledge in education and a high comfort level with technology. An individual who is comfortable in the classroom, delivering professional development and composing curriculum is desired. A background in education standards such as Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) is preferred but not required.

We seek highly motivated individuals with a keen interest in instructing and collaborating with Milestone C’s staff of STEM industry professionals on the development and delivery of project-based and career-connected STEM courses.

This is a position with areas of increasing responsibilities:

• During regular school hours (Sep-Jun): Teaching a full schedule of Tech/STEM Milestone C programs at a leading CT private school in Connecticut
• Additional projects: Deliver professional development, instruction of programs, development of curriculum

Comprehensive training in our curriculum subject areas will be provided for six months or longer to provide in-depth knowledge ensuring candidates are fully prepared to deliver our programs effectively in the classroom.

This position requires outstanding written and oral communication skills and a self-starter mindset. Candidates must be comfortable working in a small company’s agile and flexible environment, willing to explore new teaching techniques, and not timid about expressing opinions.

The position offers a competitive salary based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and benefits package. Relocation will not be provided. Work Visas will not be sponsored.

Position Responsibilities

· Deliver Milestone C programs to students daily

· Support program development and refinement with written curricula, videos, and graphics.

· Actively participate in Milestone C staff meetings (mandatory) and our sales implementation team on new schools who will be implementing our program other as required to manage the business

· Attend meetings at partner schools, as required, on behalf of Milestone C to contribute project-based curriculum development expertise

· Continuous self-learning to learn more about future educational tech and coursework.

· Use student-centered strategies; incorporate inquiry-based learning activities and 21st century skills to teach content

· Work with students and teachers in interdisciplinary/cross-curricular projects

· Coordinate and run related summer or after-school programs

· Keep abreast of relevant pedagogy, strategies, and technologies, and continually engage in learning, self-improvement, and exploration

Experience & Skills

Required:

· At least 3 years of experience in education and teaching

· Undergraduate degree in education or scientific/technical field

· Excellent public speaking, presentation, teamwork, and social skills

· Highly proficient and comfortable with technology

· Capability/versatility to learn various other applications

· Outstanding written and oral communication

Desired:

· Master’s degree in engineering, science, or education-related fields

· Background in engineering (college or past professional experience)

· Some software development/coding knowledge and experience

· Robotics instruction experience

· Experience with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, First Robotics, Lego Mindstorm, or similar platforms

Compensation

Based on experience and skills, the salary range is between $65,000 and $90,000 per year. Paid Holidays and benefits may include medical, dental, and vision coverage. Our impressively enthusiastic, energetic team works out of our office in Shelton, CT. Travel to schools and educational events will be required.
