Our Civil team is seeking a Civil Engineer II/III to join our Site Civil team at our Chicago location. Can you see yourself excel in this role? Inquire within!
This role will perform mid to senior level design on site development projects under the direct supervision of Milhouse Engineering and Construction (Milhouse) management. Typical design work includes site grading, site drainage, site modeling, storm water management, conveyance calculations, force main design, pump design, underground utilities design, engineering reports, plan production, specifications, cost estimating, project management, and client interaction.
**Please note this role will follow our hybrid schedule of 4 days in-office at either our downtown Chicago office or Lombard office.
What you will do:
- Design to client and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare design calculations and analysis using appropriate tools and/or software.
- Perform geometric layouts, grading plans, utility layouts and develop 2D and 3D models using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Prepare cost estimates and analyze material costs.
- Prepare project documents and reports.
- Self-perform quality checks on produced work.
- Perform quality checks on other colleagues’ work.
- Lead multiple small to mid-sized projects with multiple project deadlines.
- Assist management on proposal development as needed.
What we are looking for:
- Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Strong technical skills in grading and storm water design, codes, and regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively and confidently with clients and peers.
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs.
- Produce effective and efficient work that meet critical client deadlines.
Your background:
- Graduated from an ABET accredited institution.
- 4-8 years of experience.
- Manager and/or Lead experience is a plus.
- Deltek Vision experience is a plus.
- Currently holds a P.E. License.
- Understands design requirements for Chicago and Chicagoland area.
The actual base pay depends upon many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
