As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a highly skilled responsible CDL Driver to join our team. As a CDL Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe transportation and delivery of materials to various job sites. This position offers the benefit of being home every night, allowing for a healthy work-life balance.
Responsibilities:
- Operate commercial motor vehicles, such as trucks or trailers, in a safe and efficient manner to transport materials from Mill Creek Lumber and Supply to designated job sites.
- Load and unload materials onto the truck, ensuring proper securing of the cargo to prevent damage during transit. Verify the accuracy of delivery documents and obtain necessary signatures upon delivery.
- Efficiently plan and organize delivery routes, taking into consideration traffic, road conditions, and customer requirements, to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure its safe and reliable operation. Report any defects, malfunctions, or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
- Adhere to all relevant traffic laws, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and company policies to maintain a high standard of safety during transportation operations.
- Provide excellent customer service by establishing positive and professional relationships with customers and addressing their inquiries or concerns regarding the delivered materials.
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including vehicle inspections, fueling, and delivery logs, in compliance with company policies and DOT regulations.
- Safely and efficiently unload materials at job sites, following proper handling procedures and safety guidelines. Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth delivery and distribution of materials.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks on the vehicle, such as fueling, checking fluid levels, and cleaning, to ensure its optimal performance.
- Continuously promote a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols, identifying potential hazards, and promptly reporting accidents or incidents.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with appropriate endorsements for the specific vehicle being operated.
- Demonstrated safe driving record with no major violations or accidents in the past three years.
- Proven experience as a CDL Driver or in a similar driving role, preferably in the construction or lumber industry.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, loading, and unloading materials, as well as standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
- Familiarity with and adherence to DOT regulations and safety guidelines for the transportation of materials.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with customers and team members.
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and ability to adhere to scheduled routes and delivery times.
- Meticulous attention to detail in ensuring accurate and proper documentation, as well as safe handling of materials.
- Ability to quickly assess and resolve unexpected situations or challenges that may arise during transportation and delivery.
- Willingness to collaborate and work effectively with a diverse team, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
