SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

ANNOUNCEMENT
The Mill River Unified Union School District is seeking an experienced administrator to lead its pre-K-12 school district, which has 787 students and a $22 million annual budget.
The single-board, single-budget district comprises four P K-6 schools and one 7-12 Middle/High School. The district’s mission is to provide a quality education for all learners and to create responsible, kind, engaged citizens.
THE MILL RIVER COMMUNITIES
The close-knit Mill River communities of Clarendon, Tinmouth, Shrewsbury, and Wallingford, with a combined population of just over 6,000, are situated in the Otter Creek Valley between the Taconic and Green Mountains. Steeped in natural beauty and rich in cultural history, the towns boast many sites on the National Historic Register. The communities are located in Rutland County a short distance from Rutland City, which serves as the region’s vibrant hub. Opportunities for outdoor activities abound due to the area’s many natural features, numerous state and federal recreational lands, and the Killington/Pico Ski Resorts. Boston and Montreal (just over 3 hours) and Albany, NY (2 hours) are easily accessible by car.
QUALIFICATIONS
The board seeks a student-centered, collaborative leader who is a transparent and effective communicator. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the current Vermont educational context and have demonstrated experience in engaging the school community.
CREDENTIALS
Evidence of Vermont licensure as superintendent of schools or being appropriately licensed on or before the first day of employment
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
Advanced degree in administrative studies
Administrative experience
Classroom teaching experience preferred
POSITION TYPE: Full-time/ full year
SALARY: Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications
